Your kit makes a full 32 oz. base (5 generous servings). Choose your path:
PATH 1 — Fruit-Forward Aperitivo
INFUSE: Add 32 oz. white grape juice (or blood orange juice for a deeper, more bitter-citrus character) to the jar
CHILL: Refrigerate 20–30 minutes
FINISH: Remove infusion bag — your Aperitivo Spritz base is ready
SERVE: Pour 4–5 oz. over ice, top with 1–2 oz. sparkling water. Garnish with an orange slice or twist.
PATH 2 — Zero-Sugar Botanical Aperitif (Recommended)
INFUSE: Place infusion bag in 32 oz. hot water for 5–6 minutes (do not over-infuse — gentian and bitter orange extract quickly and intensify with heat)
FINISH: Remove bag
ADD: A splash of blood orange juice and a small touch of honey or a pinch of salt to balance
CHILL: Refrigerate until cold
SERVE: Pour 4–5 oz. over ice, top with sparkling water. Garnish with an orange slice or twist.
This is the zero-sugar path where the blend performs at its best. The hot water infusion draws out the full complexity of the gentian and bitter botanicals, producing a drink that drinks like a craft aperitif.

Organic Bitter Orange Peel, Organic Sweet Orange Peel, Organic Hibiscus Flowers, Organic Gentian Root, Organic Chamomile, Star Anise.
Why These Ingredients?
Bitter Orange Peel - The backbone of every great aperitivo. Bitter orange peel is the defining botanical of the Italian aperitif tradition — it is a primary ingredient in Campari, Aperol, and virtually every classic amaro. It delivers a sharp, resinous bitterness with a bright citrus edge, and it has a long history in herbal medicine as a digestive tonic that stimulates bile production, eases bloating, and prepares the body for a meal. This is the ingredient that makes the Aperitivo Spritz taste like the real thing.
Sweet Orange Peel - The balance to the bitter. Sweet orange peel softens the intensity of bitter orange with a warm, honeyed citrus sweetness that keeps the blend approachable rather than austere. It contributes its own digestive benefits through naturally uplifting aromatic compounds, and it is what gives this blend its rounded, complex finish rather than a one-dimensional bitterness.
Hibiscus - The color and the tartness. Hibiscus contributes the vivid ruby hue that makes this drink visually unmistakable and a dry, cranberry-like tartness that amplifies the bitter character of the blend. One of the most antioxidant-rich botanicals in herbal beverages, it has been studied for its potential to support healthy blood pressure and cardiovascular wellness. In the hot water infusion path, hibiscus extracts beautifully and becomes the tart, tannic backbone of the zero-sugar aperitif.
Gentian Root - The most important ingredient in this blend — and the one that separates it from everything else in the mocktail market. Gentian root is the foundational bitter botanical of European herbal medicine, used for over 2,000 years as a digestive tonic. It is the primary bittering agent in Angostura bitters, most amari, and many classic vermouths. In traditional practice, gentian is taken before meals to stimulate stomach acid and digestive enzyme production, support liver function, and awaken the appetite. In this blend, it delivers the authentic, deep bitterness that makes the Aperitivo Spritz taste genuinely adult — not like a sweetened fruit drink with a bitter aftertaste, but like a botanical beverage that was crafted with intention.
Chamomile - The softening agent. A small amount of chamomile is used here not for its calming flavor profile, but as a botanical bridge — it rounds out the sharp edges of gentian and bitter orange, adds a delicate honey-like floral note, and prevents the bitterness from becoming harsh or aggressive. It also contributes its well-documented calming and anti-inflammatory properties, making this blend as grounding as it is sophisticated.
Star Anise - The aromatic depth ingredient. Star anise adds a warm, faintly sweet, anise-like complexity that is characteristic of many classic Italian aperitivos and amari. It is present in a supporting role — enough to add intrigue and warmth to the finish without dominating the blend. Beyond flavor, star anise has been used in traditional medicine as a digestive aid and contains antioxidant compounds that complement the broader wellness profile of this blend.
